CARNATIC MUSIC CLASSES AT VEDAGITA PATASHALA
Vedagita Patashala is pleased to offer classes in Carnatic vocal music starting Sept 06th 2018. Lessons will be given by Smt.Uma Sivakumar.
THIS YEAR WE WILL HAVE TWO CLASSES ON EVERY THURSDAY ONE CLASS FOR KIDS & ONE CLASS FOR ADULTS.

Guru Smt. Uma Sivakumar is an accomplished Carnatic music teacher and performer residing in Philadelphia. She had her initial training under Sri.Narasimhan and Sri.Govindarajan, Professors of Music at Annamalai University Music College. She underwent advanced training at the much reputed D.K. Pattammal School, having been directly tutored by Smt. Lalitha Sivakumar, the daughter-in law of Smt.DKP. She has given concerts in India and has also performed extensively across North America, including the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival. She is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer specializing in the Pandanallur and Vazhuvoor styles.
Uma is a Director and Event Co-coordinator for SRUTI, a premier and reputed Carnatic music organization based in Philadelphia that promotes Indian music, arts and culture. She plays a major role in chaperoning the SRUTI Youth Group, the youth wing of SRUTI. Uma is also the Founder and Director of “Hamsanadam School of Music” created with a mission of promoting Carnatic music by training kids in the greater Philly area. Music is an essential and indispensable part of her life and she has been constantly motivating youngsters in the area in their pursuit of musical excellence.

Attire and behavior should be appropriate for a Temple setting - more than Knee length dress is a MUST. No shorts, sleeveless, minis.
Please tie your hair in a knot (no loose hairs).
Please respect and protect temple property and premises and ensure no damages are done to either. Temple is not responsible for any injuries or loss of personal belongings.
